Maker Ident?

Recent Pick-up :This Knife is Custom, Does Anybody recognize the Maker ? And Purpose of the Design. Has J R M Initials w/0.1 opposite side. Very Strong For such a thin Blade , Also noticed faint clay line on Stainless Blade? Thank You Joe

What is the thickness of spine close to handle ?
Often blades with a wide edge grind are called "bushcraft".
In addition to hundreds of relatively known knife makers there are thousands more 'unknown' knife makers and some of these only ever make a few knives.
I have never seen another knife marked "J R M".

Was curious because the handle is Real fat for the Knife .. Joe

The "J R M". appears as if each letter was stamped with an individual stamp. As noted, probably made by an individual that only made a few.

A fat handle could indicate a maker who has only made a few knives. Handles with less girth are a better in hand fit but it takes a few knives made for the maker to get it figured out.

If a local made this it was somebody in Florida, The Handle material used may be Ironwood ? Beautiful stuff under all that polyurethane. Does that sound right to You Fella's , You could Knock a cow out with it ...lol Thank You Joe

Joe, Just some guess work on my part, but the handle material looks more like buffalo horn than any type of wood. The knife appears to be someone's first try at knife making and the O.1 might mean he used O-1 tool steel? not stainless. KJ is right, the grind is typical of a "bush craft" knife. If properly heat treated, O-1 makes a really good knife. Terry

Thanks Terry , 0-1 Steel , Ill Have to look that up . I Am Not to familiar with Knife Makers Material , Other than Popular Steel like D-2 , And 1095 ,Stuff like That , Here's Some Handle Pic For a Closer Assessment ? Thanks Joe
