Schrade Evolution

Today I just received what is no doubt the best Schrade Cut Co. knife in my collection & I just had to post it or I'll never sleep tonight....
that' s how excited I am!!!
I also found this exact model listed in the 1926 catalog, but this knife looks like it could have been made yesterday.... which also got me thinkin'.... ever thought of comparing the earliest & the latest generation of a pattern?

This acquisition is a 4" Texas Pattern Premium Stockman № 8814G with a Green Pearl celluloid handle. By chance about a month ago, I happen to pick up a Schrade descendant in the form of a Canal Street Cutlery 4" Stockman with a "Mica Pearl" handle made in 2013, Serial № 034. The second set of photos shows the two side−by−side.... but some 80+ years apart....

Does anyone else have a similar pair of old & new?

Hi, KAW; nice knives; I am a bit of a Schrade guy myself. Your knife is a 8803P (smoked pearl celluloid), 8803G (green pearl celluloid) or 8803AC (assorted celluloid), not a 8813P. I can't say from the pictures which color it would be. The knife has been cleaned/buffed, but still a real beauty. The bolsters are different on the two patterns. Your bolsters are the more pocket-friendly rounded design, and are threaded, as well, a nice touch. The bolsters on the Canal Street are quite different yet. Also very nice. Two different aesthetics over a long time frame, both beautiful. Thanks for showing two great knives!

Another 8803. In the Schrade Walden years, this pattern had become the 879.

It took reading this thread again about a month later for the light bulb to go on .... I have a 879 & I never thought to put the two side−by−side .... ironically, the 879 is the one worse for wear than its much older compadre....
