Where I live in the pan handle there is nothing left but straight rows of pulp wood/pole pines.This area was so heavily stripped that there is almost no trace of the original hardwoods that were native here.
When I first moved here, and did not know the history I was amazed at how the trees were all the same, and grew in dead straight rows.
Little did I know they are all planted by guys walking in a straight line putting a seedling on each side after 4 paces. Otherwise this would all be swamp.
