SSM ?

SSM ?

Guys, what does SSM mean, it's a Case 3254SSM. I assume the SS means stainless steel, but the "M" has me stumped.

If the "M" was at the beginning of the pattern, it would refer to a metal handle on some patterns, but yours is a yellow trapper. There is the mention of a few Case Trappers being made with a Muskrat clip blade in Steve Pfeiffer's 1st book, Collecting Case Knives. A Muskrat blade is more slender in shape than either the California Clip or the standard clip. Maybe the "M" might refer to that type blade? ::shrug:: I'm just guessing, perhaps Mr. Pfeiffer, aka knifeaholic, will come by and answer your question.
