Has anyone here got an 83OT ??
I just found an 83OT and I am negotiating a price with the seller.
my question is this... I can't find another 83OT to compare it to. SO, Is this the correct blade complement?
I am wondering if this main blade was sharpened into this shape or is this the correct main blade shape?
Thanks y'all....

I don't think that's correct. I believe it's supposed to look like this, but I'd wait for some of the experts to weigh in before you do anything. I know Dale would know with absolute certainty. (Photo taken from Internet)

Re: Has anyone here got an 83OT ??
I can see how you could modify the blade to look like this BUT look at the secondary blade.... it's even different.
I'm confused.
I tried to look it up in the Old Timer Table that shows the numbers and prices but it's not in there. (????)

The OP knife is definitely reshaped. Schrade did not make 83OT knives with that blade shape. But even without knowing you should be able to tell by looking at the spine. Price should be low in this condition. Also, make sure you check the blades for lateral play. It can't be easily fixed on a knife with this Swinden key construction.
Btw, one of my commonly carried knives is an 8OT. Those OT are great users.

Somebody did a pretty nice job on shaping the blade. It sort of looks like a wharncliffe blade.
Just adding another $.02.

The knife is a 330T with reshaped blade.
You see a few knives on eBay with 840T or 830T.The sellers are reading the first three as a eight.
Some of the knives had a deep or heavy tang stamp and the three looks like a eight.

Re: Has anyone here got an 83OT ??
Yep.... my point to this is that the fonts can't really be just a "3" that can be mistaken for an "8". The 2 fonts side by side don't really look even close.
Somebody either modified these to really look like an "8" somewhere along the line.... either at the factory or .....somewhere..... OR 83OT and 84OT really does exist......
What y'all think?
Is it possible that these were from the FACTORY????
(I'm still stiring the pot....LOL)

Re: Has anyone here got an 83OT ??
Grant's got it right, They never made an 83OT or an 84OT for that matter, the 3 sometimes dimpled the surrounding metal to make it look like an eight, and sometimes metal crud would fill in the ends of the number causing a funky stamp as well. The 33OT pictured has completely reshaped blades, possibly the small blade had a broken tip at some point. The "84OT" is obviously a 34OT, just look at the blades and their layout. There's nothing different about that knife that would justify a different number. There's also no record of an 83OT or an 84OT in any of the catalogs that were produced.

Re: Has anyone here got an 83OT ??
OK... I got no problem with believing that there was REALLY never an "83OT" nor an "84OT" made but I'm gonna tell ya what.....
These 2 sure don't look like they could be mistaken for each other. I don't know how of why this was done, but my "84OT" came this way. It is practically new and that "3" sure looks like an "8"....
(I just had to take one more shot across they bow.....LOL)
Once again.... just sayin'....LOL

This is one variation of the 93OT. It is available.
The 93 was manufactured from 1982 to 1993 and was called the Wrangler. Has a clip and a sheepfoot blade and is on the /895/896/897 Schrade 3 9/16 inch frame.

There are 2 versions of the early 'run' that I've seen:
Both have the 4 visible pins and (I believe) are both high carbon steel
-- your 75th Anniversary (rumored to be only 12,000 sold)
-- same with no etch (120,000? sold)”

This has always been a contentious issue, and what i do is stare at the 3, long and hard, and you will see a 3, not an 8.
That's my 2 bobs worth.
