We got a couple of inches (my estimate) yesterday. Enough to make the roads nasty. The sun is shining this morning and the mercury is headed for zero and below over the next few days. I'm already starting to dream about a week in Aruba. If wishes were horses............

It's been 14 below and 10 below the last 2 mornings in Sioux Falls SD. A little wind has made it worse.

We have had about 26 below for the past several nights with highs getting to about minus ten. Last night the power went out for about 3000 of us from 3AM to 8:30. I woke up at 5 and noticed the radio clock was dark so I got up and made a fire in the back-up wood stove so our house didn't even cool off but some people's homes got down to about 40. Most people have some kind of back-up but if they don't and power goes out for a couple days we have a real mess with pipes bursting and lots of remodeling going on. ____Dave

It's snowing.

had white out conditions at 8 am. went out at 5:30 am to shovel 5 inches of new snow. got about 3/4 of the driveway and hit my medical safe limit. will wait for my plow guy. no need to drive today.

I was out feeding critters about an hour ago, in shirtsleeves with a light vest. It was 48 degrees F, overcast and still. Then a blast of cold air hit, wind started blowing from the north. Now an hour later it's 35 degrees. Had to get a heavier jacket. Temperature forecast to be in the teens by Sunday night.

I fed some corn to the crows wearing a light jacket then it started dropping, down to 28 now and the wind makes it feel like the teens.brrr. 47 would suit me fine Scott, would seem like a heat wave.

12 degrees here in the mountains with a fresh coat of 8 inches of snow. Cold is going to stay for a while and some snow off and on through the New Year...

Looking forward to Spring already...lol

Happy New Year to everyone! It is 21 below zero here in Frostbite Falls (Sioux Falls) South Dakota, but fortunately there is not a breath of wind and the sun is out so it doesn't feel so bad. I was just out to fill the bird feeders and attracted quite a crowd of hungry critters.

Last week, it was below zero here in NH. Today, it's 51 deg. Then, it's going to freeze back up in a day or so and we'll all go skating...

I haven't been able to get to my office for 3 days, and I don't expect to be able to get there before Monday. The mudslides in Montecito, CA are between my house and my office and the only roads between are completely closed.

This is a picture of Highway 101, the only connecting road between Santa Barbara, CA and Ventura, CA. The alternative is to drive an additional 6-7 hours to get around this.

The problem in north Texas is there's nothing between the North Pole and here but barbed wire fences.

It was a balmy 58 degrees here before the cold front hit about an hour ago. 42 now with 25 mph NNW wind, on the way to the low 20s by morning. RainIng in East Texas, snow and ice coming this way from the northwest and supposed to hit here later this afternoon. The guessers are saying we may get 1/2 inch to an inch of snow followed by sleet and ice. The ground is too warm for it to stick so probably just accumulate on bridges and overpasses. We'll see............. I got all the critters fed and watered this morning while it was still warm!

Watched the local news tonight and the new "Guess" is 1-2 in snow with some iceing.. With that we probably get slammed!!! John
