Date and Value of Bulldog Pocket Knife?

I'm trying to get a manufacture date and current value on this large Bulldog pocket I own. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Somebody will know. I do not.

I think they changed the tang stamp from two dogs fighting to a single dog at some time due to political correctness re' dog fighting, but I don't know when that was. So, that might give you a set of inclusive dates.

I'm not so sure, however, that Buzz Parker did not bring back the two dog stamp at some point.

Pretty knife and a nice, big pattern.

That is a 1st generation bulldog and was released in 1981. There were 188 of them produced. They are very nice knives. It has a unique release system. If it were mint I believe it would bring close to $200.00. You don't see them a lot. Bulldog made one like it in the 2nd generation that was etched "Calf Roper" but you have one of the original 1st generation knives.

Not my knife but wow Tom, what amazingly specific information ! Certainly will help me if i ever see one of these for sale. This is the first Bulldog Lever Lock i have seen. Did they ever make a 'Springer' ?

No, unless it would be a recent release none of the early bulldogs were "springers"

I have one of the "Calf Roper" (2nd Generation) versions. Great Stag, great heft, and well made. The brass lock release worries me some though. Or at least it would if I carried and used it extensively.

I know what you mean about the release but I can say I never saw one with a problem.
