Info about this Boker / Stamp I can't find anywhere

I got this Boker and when I went to find more information on it by the Tang stamp I couldn't find another Boker with the same stamp and am wondering if anyone could help me out with info on the knife and why I can't find this stamp!. Thanks in advance!

I can tell you it is a pattern 2002, made in 1990 in Solingen, and the blade is made of 440C steel. The handles are rosewood. The tang stamp isn't very common, but it is correct for this knife made during this time period. You can see the tang stamp from a 1990 Boker catalog matches yours perfectly!

Not necessarily. Since Boker used the TREE as their trademark, TREE BRAND just kind of became an alternate name brand for Boker knives when they were made in Germany and the USA.
In modern days, Boker offers knives made in several countries. The knives made in Solingen Germany have the best quality now. They usually have the Tree Brand blade etch. Boker also makes knives in Argentina, and they can sometimes have the Tree Brand logo, along with ARBOLITO. (Spanish for "Little Tree").
There is also Boker PLUS, which is sourced in Taiwan and China, and finally there is MAGNUM by Boker, which is made in China.

Yea, I also have Boker "Plus" which does not seem to follow the traditional "Boker" ways. It's an automatic knife, Boker Plus Automat Kalashnikov 74.

I have a 2007 which looks to be the same knife with polished black horn handles. There is no 'frosting' of the blade and marked on flats parallel to long axis is " Boker/Solingen Germany" and "2007/440C" is just above the tang which is marked "Tree Logo" on my left side as you look at it beside: "Boker/Solingen". So same tang marking as the others you mention plus the Tree logo. Back tang is marked "Germany/440C Stainless". There is no year date marked on it.( i had thought that "2007" was the year, but after reading this thread i believe it is a pattern number)
It is a very well finished knife, an upscale edition i believe.

It is the pattern number in this case, but your knife could have been made in 2007. I find that knife with your blade etch in every year's Boker catalog from 1990 until 2008. Here's a pic of the 1990 catalog page. It's unusual that even though these are all the same knife with different handle material, the 2007 is the only one with the polished blade and different etch. Just another Boker mystery!

Boker still makes this knife as of 2017, but the blade etch has changed slightly.
Here's the same family in 2016. Notice that they've all caught up now. All the models have polished blades!

Very interesting. Thank you rbd ! So my 2007 could be from 1990 to a couple of years ago when i bought it on line. I do prefer the polished blade over the frosted one. My thinking is, with use & sharpening the frosted blade begins to look 'shabby'.

I agree. Once the frosting is scratched, they never look as good.
I'll bet the Boker QC department had a tough time making sure they got full frosted coverage on that hollow ground blade too!

With all this talk about frosting, I have a sudden urge for cake...
