Mike Silvey's Knives

Post by kootenay joe »

Mike Silvey who wrote "Pocket Knives of the United States Military" book (excellent) is selling off some of his knife collection on ebay over the 'next few months'. https://www.ebay.com/sch/mwsilvey/m.htm ... 1543.l2654
I have no connection to Mr. Silvey and i did not ask for his o.k. to post this link.
Even if you do not want to bid on any of these knives it will be interesting to see these military folding knives because all will be correct examples, no fakes or re-works unless he ID's a knife as such.

The knives he has posted now are mostly fairly commonly seen knives from WW II to recent, in age. I am sure he has many older harder to find U.S. Military folding knives from WW I and earlier. Perhaps he will auction some Sheffield made knives from the latter half of 19th century (1850-1899).
I'm saving my $$ in hopes for one of these.

Mike does send out a list of knives once or twice per year on some of the more rare military knives that he has collected and also some of the knives he has made. He is a very accomplished knife maker.
He sent out such a list recently, probably within the last 30 days.

I realize this thread is a couple years old, but does anyone know how to get in touch with Mike Silvey? I have one of his knives and would like to find out more about it. His web site silveyknives.com seems to be defunct.

I haven't seen Mike since April 2019, the last OKCA show.
You could probably get in touch with him on Facebook. He posts on the OKCA website every week or two. Usually he's posting knives that he has made recently.
If all else fails, send me a PM and I will look of his email address when I'm at my computer.
