please help identify this old knife

Post by MatthiasN »

Hello, I found this knife in the attic of our old house.
We believe it is from the father of my grandfather so it is brobably pretty old but we're not sure about this.
I can't find anything online and I did a reverse image search on google but that also didn't give any results.
There are no markings on the knife except the logo on the handle. Does anyone know the brand behind this logo of know which knife this is?
Thanks

Your knife was made by Pradel, a manufacturer in Thiers, France. Hard to say how old as they made the same looking multiblades for decades.
Finding a date that style of cap lifter came into being would help establish the oldest possible date. At a guess i would say 1930's - '40's.

My guess, based on the plastic handles, is 1950's-60's.

These handles are referred to as "red fiber", been around since early 1900's. I do not think it is a type of plastic.

Agree. Looks like what some call "red fibroid" or "red fiberoid". Case used this on at least one pattern during the Tested era (1920-1945). Probably around WWII.
