Sabre pocket knife
I've got a Sabre 2 blade pocket knife my grandpa used to carry. The only markings are on the big blade. It says Sabre. Below that is Japan. Below that is the number 5. I'm hoping someone can tell me how old the knife is. I've looked everywhere I know to look and can't find any info.
Thanks, Bill

Welcome to AAPK
Can you show us some pictures of the knifes? Close ups of the tang stamp marks are also very helpful.

Sabre's were made in Japan between 1960 and 1980. I believe the "5" is the pattern number. They were an economy line made for (or by) Cole National.

It's a special thing to have a knife that belonged to your grandpa!

I know they're not one of the nice knives out there but it was his and he died when I was real young. I like stuff that's been handed down like that.

I've have only one Sabre Japan. It's a well made knife but it takes an act of Congress to open.
