Identifying a folding knife

I am not a knife collector, and I don't know very much about knives. It might be a long shot, but I was hoping someone could identify this folding knife. It belonged to my father.
I can't make out the letters on the blade, the closest I could get was Recuerdo. I have another knife that does say recuerdo, Viva Espana, but this knife seems completely different. I'm also not entirely sure that this knife definitely says "recuerdo".
I'm sorry if this isn't the correct site to ask, I just thought it would be worth asking.

Hey Button, first off welcome to AAPK. I can't help with your questions about your unusual folding knife. But we are all glad to see your pictures. That is very different. Can you tell what the handles are made of? Any other markings or stamping on the blades? Someone on this sight will know something. Thanks for sharing. Steve B.

Recuerdo means remember in Spanish, so I think both your knives are tourist mementos from Spain. Without a maker's mark maker ID and date would be tough to determine.

The handle of the knife seems to be made with ivory or bone, it does have markings on the blade, but the markings are a little worn and dirty. I'm sorry I can't give any specific details. I'll try looking into the other knife, as I had more luck with that. When I find it out I might share a photo and details

I have the same knife, the handles are smooth bone. The design looks like a dye that was applied by hand by an artist. I have seen several of these over the years, probably a tourist item as Gene mentioned.

Probably doesn't mean a thing, but the knife puts me in mind of the GERMO knives that were distributed by a pest extermination company or insecticide maker. They had a mottled brown/black handle in the shape of a cockroach.
