Hard to believe the maker of that knife left that as a makers mark. Possible though. Not much help today.

I don't know what that says but I think Steve is right. It's not the makers mark, it's the previous owner's name, whatever that was. Maybe it was his nickname or something. I've seen that kind of thing before, they just used an engraver to write their name.

Scott I think like the other fellers, it wouldn't surprise me if that knife was hand made by ole paki- stan. ::shrug:: here a picture of some of his handy work, I'm not saying your knife is but. ::handshake::

I didn't see the W in the signature until it was posted who the maker was. Then I saw that he was using the drop down leg of the R as the beginning stroke of the W.

I do not see this. The pictures of R.W.Fred's knives do not show the same level of workmanship as Scott's knife. This does not mean that Scott's knife is not an RWFred. The signature does look very similar. Scott might have Fred's best knife.

Edit to add: Scott you could send RWF pics and ask him to confirm and if he does, suggest he invest in a stamping die.

I'm saying your knife looks more finished, better made than the knives on his website. If it is this knife maker's work it is one that came out better than the knives shown on his website.
