Locking folders

Hi there,
I am a small time collector from the land down under seeking help in identifying/purchasing a particular knife. My interest is folders with unusual blade lock and release mechanisms and a little while ago I saw a trapper style knife on Ebay that had a small lever built into the bolster that you lifted with your thumb to unlock the blade from the open position. I think this knife was a Case but not sure and the Ebay seller would not ship outside the US so I have been waiting patiently for another to show up but no luck as yet. Any information at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I have not seen a trapper knife with a lever lock.But I could be wrong .Go to ebay USA and see if there is a knife similar to what you want and post it.

Thanks for responding Jerry but it is not the Camillus knife . The knife I saw had brass/silver bolsters on each end of the knife but the bolster at the blade pivot end had a small knob incorporated into it so that from a little way off, you could not see it and it looked like you would lay your thumb on the bolster, apply pressure over the small knob/bump and push to the right, lifting the lock off the blade and allowing it to close.

It is probably something different, because the gentleman who is asking probably knows better, but comments could be construed to be describing a linerlock knife, which of course are very common.

If it was a case it could be a trapperlock or a russlock. Do either of these look familiar? Both knives are a form of a linerlock. As far as case goes I think the only other lock style they have is a lockback, which sounds far away from what you are describing.

Just got a small Remington (Camillus) "handyman" folding knife with clip and serrated blades. The interesting thing is, both blades have a separate lock release at the butt end of the knife. Pretty neat.

It's a knife I had modded for someone sometime back. Here was the before...

Thanks everyone for the pics but it"s not any of those. If anyone is familiar with a Rigid top lock then that is the type of lock I saw but instead of a button to lift off the lock the mystery knife has a small cutaway that is slightly raised on the bolster. This raised bump is attached to the lock bar so you put your thumb on the bolster and push up and this lifts the lock off the blade and allows it to fold closed. Bob Cargill's bolster lock is also similar but his mechanism involves the whole bolster on one side. I will try and get a pic of these other knives to help. As to the make, it could well be any other but I was looking at Case knives at the time and thought this was also.

At last I think I have an ID on the knife in Question but first of all a very humble apology to you learned gentleman that suggested it was a liner lock and I kept insisting it was a back lock! It seems it is a Cataraugus FH1 toothpick with bolster lock, I believe AG Russel also do one. I will post a pic as soon as I work out how to do it!

It's possible you're thinking of two separate knives: a Rigid Top-Lock and an AG Russell Bolster Lock Toothpick:

Thanks, I think I did a fine job of confusing both myself and everyone else. The Russel bolster lock looks to be the right animal!
