Questionable 1962 Schrade 8OT
https://www.ebay.com/itm/SCHRADE-WALDEN ... 0290.m3507
The seller is advertising it as a 1962 knife based on a gold foil union sticker that is inside the box - but that's not what I'm really questioning. The master blade has a matchstriker with only 14 teeth and there is no swedge at all and no pattern number on reverse tang. In one of the pics (see below) I think I can see a pin on that bolster on the right but it could just be a shadow, who knows? Anyone here ever seen a Walden 8OT with 14 teeth and no swedge? It's a first for me.

Re: Questionable 1962 Schrade 8OT
I have a 8OT Old Timer with the same blade but 16 teeth no 8OT stamped on blade.
I remember someone posting a 8OT with pins in the bolster and someone came up with a order form Camillus to make some for Schrade. They would be a rare knife.
I will see if I can find the post.

Thanks for the link - good read. The Camillus knives would be later I think. Is your 8OT a Walden? I messaged back and forth with this seller and he said the knife was sealed in the bag (you can see it in the photos in the listing) and he just opened it to take the pictures.Shearer wrote:I have a 8OT Old Timer with the same blade but 16 teeth no 8OT stamped on blade.

Re: Questionable 1962 Schrade 8OT
I just posted a couple days ago in the Schrade subforum regarding an Old Timer stockman, a SFO for John Primble. Same blade as yours (mine had original 1959-1963 bone handles- yum). You might want to read that thread. Your blade/my blade are legitimate Old Timers but not Schrade blades; they came from Camillus, Ulster or Imperial. Where the knives were assembled is unknown to me at this time. The Baer family had strong ties to Camillus (and later full control), and had full control of Ulster and Imperial. Knives, parts, and labor were flowing back and forth among all four entities from time to time.

Well I suppose if I had to lose out on that Primble I'm glad to know it went a good home. We both sniped at the same time. Hats off to you sir! You should know that it's not from the 59-63 era. That knife was made right around 1970 - you'll find it in the Belknaps catalog.Shearer wrote:If you go to the bottom of the page you will see the knife that Tongueriver is talking about.
As for the ebay knife above, I think that particular knife may have an Imperial blade. Here's a picture of an 853 (from a later time period) which has the same 14 tooth pull. Not proof positive, but a guess. By the way, after learning it was probably real I went and bought that knife.
