Kutmaster?
I have a few Kutmaster Utica N.Y. USA knives, two of them has a letter below the tang stamp. A Muakrat with a V below and a large stockman with a T below the tang stamp. I could not find any info on what the letters stands for. Hope someone knows.

Klein Tools uses a lettered dating system on their Kutmaster made knives, so perhaps for a limited time, Kutmaster may have adopted that system for their use?

V stands for "Vanadium" as in "chrome vanadium", indicating a carbon steel blade.
T stands for "Tungsten"...indicating a stainless steel blade. Kutmaster used the term "Tungsten Stainless" to describe their stainless steel - most likely just a name dreamed up by a marketing person.
One reason that they would put the letter on the blade is so that during assembly of the knife, they could keep track of which blade go into which knife, to avoid mixing stainless and carbon steel in the same knife.

Anybody know what these letters mean? Looks like D-8 and on the small blade R-2. This was my grandfathers knife and he passed away 14 years ago so can’t really ask him. I was born in 75 and since I can remember back he always had this knife with him so 70’s maybe.. I really have no idea
