Camillus Scout??

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Camillus Scout??

Post by Meridian_Mike »

This one just arrived. It is all steel, pins and all, so would you figure it was made about 1942 (or so)?
Well, my original puzzlement about this knife is who made it. All it says on the tang is "MADE IN USA"....

If I recall correctly.... seems like the general concenus is if the tang only says made in USA then it is made for sears.

Here is a couple more pics.....

Made in USA c1924-1965 , Mark used by Sears &Roe buck ~~Goins ( Judging by the opener and allsteel Bolsters ) 1940 -1946 or there abouts .. K.C. From what I see , I could be off on the Manufactured dates , If anything Earlier ! Nice Camper( scout ) . ::tu::

Thanks for the research KC ...

So do you think it was made by Camillus or maybe another knife co.?

Also, I suppose it would have had a "USA" shield on it if it were made FOR the military.

I suppose I could just put it in my "Sears" pile but I was just feelin' around for the company that made it too.

Thanks for the input Joe.
I guess without a makers name on the tang it is hard to stick a pin in the actual maker sometimes.
