Super Kamp King

I carried a Kamp King most of my younger days. As an adult, I discovered the Super Kamp King and procured several from Ebay. Does anyone know what years these were sold and maybe some more history about them?

I've never heard of a "Super Kamp King". Any pictures you have would be appreciated.

I think a "Super" might have been a 6 blade as opposed to a 4 blade.

The "Super Kamp King" is indeed a 6 blade on the larger Imperial scout frame.(pen and beverage opener blades added) The one in my collection has the 1946-56 tang stamp. Do a search for 'tang stamp charts' here on AAPK (or maybe someone can provide the link to it) and you'll find one for Imperial/Hammer Brand knives and can check your different versions to determine their dates.

Jerry thanks for posting the stamps. I don't mean to hijack this thread.But below is a photo of my Kamp King. Can anyone identify what is stamped on the tang below the Imperial/Crown marks? Even using my magnifier, I cannot make it out

This is a Super Kamp King. Barely visible in the picture is the folding can opener on the spine.

It appears to be over-stamped "stainless". Imperial didn't use much stainless, but some. Nice oddity Quick Steel!

I think the super camp king probably went away about 1970 when the pop top beer can took over. I cannot remember the last time I needed the pointy end of a church key. Neat knives.

Not many (if any) younger folks have ever heard the term,"church key"; let alone know what it means!

My first impression was also that it said stainless. I sold one last year that was in a collection I sold and it had the same almost unreadable mark under Imperial.

It would be interesting to know if it is actually stainless, I don't think it was common practice to use stainless blades in their Kamp King knives. I have and have had several from all different eras and I don't believe any of them had stainless blade(s) and I'm real sure none were over-stamped.

If it were any other company, I'd wonder if it had been marked as a second, but Imperial really didn't do seconds.
