i have a old smith & wesson revolver
dont have any gun books just wondering if someone could put a value on it for me.
32 S&W LONG on the barrel
6 shot with a short barrel
MOD. 30-1
its a gun my mom gave me i have no intentions of selling it
just wondered what it books for..

My book is the 26th Edition of the Blue Book of Gun Values. It is 3 or 4 years old.
It shows the model 30 to have been made from 1948 to 1976 and to have a value of $300 in 100% condition. In 60% condition the value would be $150.
My book does not show anything on a model 30-1. I assume that was a modification of the model 30.

Depends on what the market will bear. Much like ebay can give an idea of the value of knives at a given time, Gunbroker, Auction Arms and other firearm auctions can help nail down the value of a firearm.

Gunbroker has a couple listings. They seem to range from $400 to $600 for LNIB.

Best way to go is to have a good gunsmith give an appraisal. I have 2 guns left I'm selling a Damascus 12 Ga L. C. Smith made in 1906 and a Savage pump 1903 .22 with a clip made from 1903 to 1922. It's nice to have that appraisal in case of theft or many other things. I did find out these old guns appreciate about 8% annually on average. I also found out that 92% of these L. C. Smith shotguns are already in private collections. The Savage attracted the most attention in the shop though and that books at half of the L. C. Smith at $500.00 to $600.00 and only 13,000 of those were made. A pump with a clip always seemed odd to me. You can go through that pretty fast.

Also what's nice is that these are classified as curio and relics, so I can sell them without an FFL.
