1975 CASE BARLOW With bone handles
I recently bought a 1975 case barlow 62009 1/2 and something just dont seem right. It feels alot different in hand vs my 1970 case barlow.ive posted some pics and any help would be appreciated. The bolster seems just a tad long and the case xx etch seems rather faint.I know most barlows are delrin after 1970 but i have read there were some bone handled barlows made in 1975 due to overatpck or shprtage of delrin(steve pfeiffer 2nd edition).Maybe im just paranoid but im not crazy about this knife.thanks in advance

I'm almost certain that's a legit Case. Maybe cleaned up a bit (which would help account for the shallow stamp). Also, I've noticed those Case Barlow bolster stamps don't always hold up over years of pocket wear. Here's a pic of my #1 user, a 10-dot with lots of pocket time before it ever made its way to me:

Based solely on your photographs, I do not see anything wrong with that knife. It looks good to me.

If it snaps like an alligator, then I would guess it is legit. Maybe it is just luck of the draw, but every Case Barlow I have handled has had bear trap springs.

Seems to be true at least up until the Parker years. Even the Appy Barlows of the late 70s/early 80s will bite hard if you're not careful.TwoFlowersLuggage wrote:If it snaps like an alligator, then I would guess it is legit. Later Barlows seem to have a softer snap, although because Barlows are jacks I think they will tend to snap harder than, say, a single-spring knife (33 pen knife, mini-copperhead) or one of those thin multi-spring knives changed over from single-spring construction (recent muskrats, canoes, Congresses) of the same vintage.
