Re: Have You Ever Met Anyone Famous?
I suppose if you live long enough and you like to do a lot of different things through out your life you are bound to run up on some people who once were or some day will be famous. Some of the people from my youth that I met in other circumstances than what they were famous for were Nigel Olsson who I used to go water skiing with, he was a drummer for Uriah Heep and Elton John. I also used to go deer hunting with a quasi songwriter and studio musician over in Muscle Shoals , Al and got to meet John Kay of Steppenwolf with him in one of our trips to Florence. After I was cured of that psychedelic scene and moved on to more dignified activities my daughter attended Auburn University and during her time there I got to meet Bo Jackson, Cam Newton and already knew Phillip Lutzenkirken because he was our neighbor.

I remember Rocky Johnson would, at some point in the match, always do an Ali Shuffle, then finish his opponent with either a "Sleeper Hold" or a series of drop kicks. And who could forget the Pat Patterson & Rocky Johnson tag team matches??

Speaking of wrestlers, I also played football with Ivan Putskli's son at Texas A&I. (Ivan's real name is Joe Bednarski).
We drove into Corpus Christi to watch him wrestle a couple of times around 1980-81, and worked out with him a few times at his gym in Austin. He also had another son who played football for TCU.
I remember Joe still had the numbers tatooed on his forearm from being in a concentration camp when he was a little kid.

Cool wrestling pics! When I was into watching wrestling, it was just starting to get commercialized. Hacksaw, Macho Man, Rowdy Roddy Piper, those guys.
Oh yeah, my wife sat next to Red Sox pitching great Tim Wakefield on a flight from Florida a couple years back. Nice guy I guess, she got a picture with him, and now insists on calling me Tim, LOL
