First time in uniform......
This is my middle boy, Parker. Tonight was his first meeting in uniform for Civil Air Patrol. He’s officially Airman Basic (sorry Jerry). He is absolutely eat up with flying and does every aviation camp he can, I think he has av gas in his veins instead of blood. Lol.

Wade,
That is fantastic!
My son and I have been involved with CAP for several years now.
CAP is an excellent program for young men and young women. Integrity, excellence, volunteer service, and respect are needed in every generation.
Congratulations.

Re: First time in uniform......
Thanks guys. He’s really excited. He got his first tank pinned on him tonight. If I could I’d post the video but I don’t think I can.
Tony, how cool! I may be bending your ear for advice. In March he’s going on his first maneuvers to get some ground training. We are fortunate. We have one of the largest and most active CAP Cadet units in the state in out back yard. We’re really impressed thus far.

It is so encouraging to see these fine boys growing up with goals, responsibilities, being instilled with a sense of duty beyond themselves towards others. Also a bit sad realizing that so many youths are raised without guidance, without purpose other than acquiring the latest digital toy. May God give extra blessings to all the good parents and grandparents. Their children are our hope.

I have a pic to add to this thread...
My son is the senior cadet of our squadron. He and his first sergeant are about to conduct uniform inspections.
Always a happy time for the crew!

Re: First time in uniform......
Great pic Tony! We just got our voucher the other day for the blues. We got to get those ordered, and pick up some ABU’s too. He has a weekend of ground training in March. He’s pretty stoked about that. He already has most of his 24 hour pack put together.
My oldest isn’t into CAP. But he is crazy involved in 4H, another great youth organization imo.
Ferg, great pic. We don’t have a lot of ROTC around here that I am aware of. I hear it’s a great organization.

Some squared away young men you parents and grandparents are raising, my hat is off to you all! Make sure to check out the US Space Camp at Huntsville AL and Cape Canaveral FL. My son attended the AL program when he was about 13 (mid 1990’s) and absolutely loved it - first class all the way. OH

Re: First time in uniform......
Hey guys, thought I’d share an update. My oldest boy, Jackson, has now joined too and is doing great! Parker, my middle boy, has passed all his tests and met all the standards to be promoted to Airhead, I mean Airman, 1st class.
Jackson’s dress blues haven’t arrived yet, but the two looking at ya in the pic are my boys.
