How did I ever miss that? I was thinking it was a "Stock Show" only occurrence. I didn't realize it was every day. Pretty neat.

Thats not something you'll see in other cities, neat tradition. Those longhorns are impressive and that buckskin horse in the video is beautiful.

Re: Daily cattle drive in Ft Worth.
Ahh, the city of my birth. I spent pretty much every weekend in the Stockyards in the early-to-mid eighties. Billy Bob's, The White Elephant, Longhorn, PRs, City Limits.....Lot's of great memories. Most of my family and my wife's family still live around the Fort Worth area, so we get up there quite a bit. I have been fortunate to be able to travel the world with my job, but Fort Worth is my favorite city on the planet, and will always be home. We will move back to that area when I retire in a few years.

I’ll put in another vote for Ft. Worth. I’m not much on big cities but If I have to pick one it will be Ft. Worth. We make a few trips there every year and often spend a night even though it’s just a couple hours drive, just because we enjoy the city - the Stockyards, Bass Hall, the museums, and restaurants like Reata, Joe T. Garcia’s, and others. Ft. Worth just has an “atmosphere” about it that we enjoy.

We live right between Dallas and Fort Worth. Never go to Dallas, often go to Fort Worth.

...and speaking of Fort Worth, she lost one of her favorite sons last month. I have been reading Dan Jenkins books and articles since I was in Junior High, and he was one of my favorites.

.....I still remember worrying the cook at rail head to the point he took me back and showed me the smokers, wood and how they cooked it, but when I asked him how they made the sauce, he said...."son, if I tell you that, I'd have to shoot you"...............

Railhead Smokehouse has good BBQ but there are better places for BBQ in Ft. Worth. Next time you’re there try Angelo’s (my favorite) or Heim’s.
Get there early - at peak times both places can have long lines of people waiting to get in, and have been known to sell out of ribs and/or brisket, for which both places are known. Neither place is at all fancy. Just great BBQ.

espn77, I think you may have the numerical advantage over Ft worth. What are you close to? I know there sure are a lot around Dumas and Herford. Folks around those places say that's what money smells like. Thanks for the pic's.

I’m amazed at that many cattle in one place. Do I see a front end loader loading feed?espn77 wrote:I have daily cattle drives also. Mine tend to be a little more contained.

I just got a beef butchered last week. He weighed 1932 lbs. The butcher wasn't impressed with how much fat he had to trim off. Her are 2 bone in rib eyes I cooked.carrmillus wrote:...no shortage of beef brisket at your place!!!...........![]()
