Best price ever

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Best price ever

Post by tallguy606 »

So I was in the pawnshop making a payment on a Ruger revolver I put on layaway. There in the case was a Schrade lockback hunter. Looked it over, was a 6OT, USA made, in really nice shape. For some reason, I can find lots of Buck 110s but hardly ever a Schrade that isn't all beat up. So I said, how much, manager said, I'm just going to put it with your layaway gun. No charge. Yee haw, that's a good deal any day! I have bought several expensive guns there over the years, still a nice gesture. Now I have to make one final payment on the Ruger to get the Schrade.

Can’t beat a deal like that. Sometimes it pays to be a good customer! ::tu::

Great story!

::hmm:: Wonder why it is that nice stories usually involve a gun or a knife?

Maybe we have a target audience? ::shrug::

Good for you tallguy. Looks like that pawnshop knows how to do good business.
I bet picking up your gun/knife on the last installment will not be your last visit.

Golly! Only thing better than that would be getting a free Ruger for the price of a Schrade!

I was able to buy a few very nice old Schrades some years back for maybe a little too much money, but it has gotten so crazy now I usually don't even bid on them. Case in point:

I couldn't believe how high that got, and it's not even minty! I guess that box is worth a good $250.

The backspring has an area of spotting, otherwise knife is Mint

That's like saying that the truck I am selling has the tailgate crushed in, otherwise it's never been in an accident....some peoples kids...

It sure did capture a very high price though. Guess that makes my Factory Display 2 OT, "MINT" worth a heck-of-a lot more money...lol
