Thanks, doglegg, but unfortunately grinding system is not very fast. Its power is only 1 EP (Eustace power)

What is the wood?
I don't know, Floyd. 3-4 years ago, at a meeting of knife makers, a man gave me two scales. Then he told me what a wood is, but I forgot.

Could it be Olive wood?

No. I think it's kind of ash wood (Fraxinus).

This hatchet is from flea market. The gypsy asked for 5 levа, but eventually agreed to 2 (about 1.50$). An old Bulgarian production from the 60's - 70's, it has a stamped price 3.50 лв - visible in the picture. Called tourist hatchets. Кnocking it with a wrench rings like a bell. I'm glad I brought it back to life.
