Case Tested XX 62109X Red Handles - Issues?
The experts say to "read the knife". This knife is currently on eBay and when I look at the shield and the red handles, I have to wonder if this is correct for this Era. Also, the tang stamp looks funny to me too. Is it just me, or is this knife ok. The jigging does not look right, there are no visible pins in the shield and the color seems strange. Also, the way the shield sits into the handle appears sloppy. Could this have been a rough black handled knife and the handles were replaced?

If you could post a link to the listing that might be helpful in allowing others to look at multiple photos of the knife in question.

Good eye. That is not a Tested era shield.

My opinion is the knife is not right.
As others have mentioned, the handles are horribly wrong and the shield is wrong. The clip blade is not original and I wouldn't know whether it is re-profiled, or somehow replaced.

Case Tested knives with red bone handles are like "pink unicorns"...do they exist?
That said, here is a Tested 62027 1/2 red bone that I have...looks right to me. It has a pattern stamp & "tall S" shield.

I have a comparable Case Tested XX 62027 1/2 that is not green bone. Mine looks more chestnut colored. I have been told that a Tested XX with red bone should have a pattern number stamp. Both your example and mine have the pattern number stamped. For reference, a Case XX 62027 1/2 red bone is included, and it does not have a pattern number stamp.knifeaholic wrote:Case Tested knives with red bone handles are like "pink unicorns"...do they exist?
