My wife and I had tickets to the Rangers/Angels game Tuesday night, which was played after the Monday night game was postponed due to Angels pitcherTyler Skaggs’ untimely death. Very unusual game atmosphere - somber is the word that describes it best I think.zzyzzogeton wrote:Condolences to the family of Tyler Skaggs, pitcher for the LA Angels. The game between the Rangers and Angels has correctly been postponed.
Baseball was played as usual by both teams. I somehow got the feeling however that both teams were pretty much just going through the motions. There was almost no musical entertainment, no gimmicky attempts to encourage the crowd to chant, clap or otherwise make noise. They of course played the National Anthem to open the game but after that the music and scoreboard visuals were bare-bones minimal. Rather than having the crowd sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the traditional 7th inning stretch, they played a recording of it. (Kind of interesting as they played the rarely heard and little known second verse
Sad situation for a 27 year old athlete in his prime to suddenly die.
