Oh my! Those are nice knives. One of the few stacked leather Buck knives. I’ve seen the etches removed before. Not sure what it involves.

I've not seen stacked leather on a Buck, except the Brahma. I like better than the resin handles. Good catch!

I wish Buck silver soldered their guards, it’s a nice touch I really appreciate on my Randall’s. So I JB Weld my Bucks.

That’s the only complaint I have with Buck. They have great designs and cut well hold a decent edge. I think they are the best value out there for sportsmen.

Agreed on the bang for your Buck! How do you JB Weld the guard on a Buck? Do you take it apart or just cram the epoxy into the gap?

Just cram it in there with a toothpick. Then wipe it with my finger to get a nice bead. If I could take it apart I’d figure out how to silver solder it.

That's actually a good idea. It would sure make the knife look more finished as well as preventing gunk from getting in it. I'm gonna try it on a 119. That Western looks good.

For me it’s a function over looks thing, but you can make it look ok. It definitely keeps out gunk. For a test I filled in the nail nick on my hard use Buck 110 and the JB WELD is still holding fine after at least a year of use.

Yea it's good stuff. A few years ago a friend brought me an 870 Remington that was in bad shape. Rusty and pitted. I used JB Weld to fill in the pits, like Bondo then sprayed it with Dura Cote and it's been holding up fine.

Cal, how are the puukkos as users? I think they are starting to grow on me. That is a simple, gorgeous knife there.

I don't know how to answer that; I don't do much cutting except in the kitchen. I will take this one into the field in early December and try it for field dressing a whitetail deer. All I can say is that it is lovely fit in the hand, very secure grip, great sheath that allows one to sit anywhere as well as stand, including with seatbelts in cars, without being in the way or uncomfortable, very secure in sheath. The supposed hardness suggests that it will hold an edge well. I have never seen a knife that doesn't get dull when used. I think that the aesthetics are great, and that is important to me also. I also have to say that a knife with a minimum of curves in the cutting edge makes it easier to sharpen, and the straight spine allows one to work with the knife without annoying unintentional hooking of material being cut. The only edge profile easier to sharpen than one of these would be a sheepfoot or wharncliffe blade.

semroc your Case is pre 1965 maybe a 5 Finn, depending on length.

Calvin, your T.H. puukko looks PERFECT ! I bet it is hair poppin' sharp and i really hope your hunting gives a chance to try it out. Because of the scandi grind there is no secondary edge bevel so they can edge hold as long as a man can live !
Please be sure to report back after you have field dressed with it.
I see the puukko design as perfection of the fixed blade knife: so comfortable in hand and so effective at cutting and edge holding.

I assume that is a CASE, by the sheath. Beautiful mint knife in an excellent pattern. Looks a lot like a BUCK 119. Good photo, as well.
