Triple Stamp

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Triple Stamp

Post by Martinrusso »

Found an interesting triple stamped Schrade Walden Hammer Brand. There are two Hammer stamps over a Schrade Walden stamp.

How unusual is this and what does it do for the value?

There's a whole lot going on there. I can't make out the Hammer Brand but I see what could be the outline of the hammer(s) - in person it's probably a lot clearer. I don't know how rare it is or if the oddity adds value (it doesn't for me personally as a collector) but I'm curious what it is now. Can you put up a picture of the entire mark side - blades open and closed? And are you able to make out the pattern number on the reverse? Maybe ends with a 6? I'm wondering if that blade was added as a repair at some point? Or could be a mystery find from the sample room. Some better pics might help the cause - along with knowing the closed length of it.

The knife doesn't look like a schrade or hammer brand pattern that I'm familiar with. It's definitely an odd one. As to value, I don't think the odd stamp would change much of anything there.
