Schrade USA OT vs Schrade NY USA OT ????

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

When they stop using the Schrade Walden stamp in 1973 they went to the Schrade NY USA stamp.
I not sure on this but I think the used the NY stamp till around 1979.From than on they used the Schrade USA stamp to they closed in 2004

I believe you are correct - 46-73 was Schrade Walden NY USA - Schrade NY USA and Schrade USA - 73-04 - check out the Tang stamp page under general knife discussion

I think they used the ny stamp well into the 80's. Exactly when I don't know, but my reason for saying is all of the 1985 red bone OT knives I've seen have NY USA on the stamp, as do all the 80's heritage knives.
