Someone Value This

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Someone Value This

Post by XBMX »

Appreciate it if someone could put a value on this. I haven't decided weather to keep it or sell yet. Normally I stick to more modern examples. Thanks, Rick.

Yep, newer Chinese made, is it even an auto? I think some of these were even fake autos.

These were made up for the much touted never-really-happened "Schrade Collectors Society" in 2008. I think it was genetically modified to teach all the collectors how much Taylor and co had to offer with the glorious future of Schrade China. They are not auto knives. That's a lock release button.

Fortune-cookie says: "If you turn the knife over, all will be revealed", including the model number and date of manufacture four years after Imperial Schrade Corp. closed their doors forever.

I took it to mean that Bill DeShivs had as much to do with these knives as Schrade Cut Co. That would be absolutely nothing. Also implying that sometimes misleading things get stamped on knives where a buck is concerned. How'd I do?

Lest anyone be confused/mislead, in my experience Bill DeShivs is a first rate individual, a bonafide master cutler, and a pleasure to do business with.
