Nice ones FatCity....

I just got this Craftsman Barlow in..... it has scratched up blades but I can fix that.

All it says is "CRAFTSMAN USA" with no pattern number or anything else that I can find.
It appears to have bone handles.
I sure hope it's not a packystan or chinaman....
(I don't see any of those ugly letter nowhere on it)

I have a couple of just plain Sears in my little medium jack knife group and several Sears Craftsman but of all the Sears related knives I have, I think this is my favorite. How did it last all these years without being used? Amazing!

Thanks Mike. Even if the handles are brittle and cracked, I love it and am proud to own it.

Jerry, those handles are synthetic, right ? Knife made by Camillus but this exact handle material is not present on Camillus branded knives. I think it is only found on the Sears knives ?
And, about the Barlow with sheepsfoot master, with "USA" on the tang, it was made in USA. Possibly an older Imperial ? I'm strictly guessing, could of been Camillus or Schrade.

That's what I was hoping for. I sure was hoping that the "USA" was a good enough indicator of made in the US....

All youse guys have such great collections Im just glad to contribute the couple that Ive picked up along the way. BTW the Black Skinned folding hunter was my Grandfather's. Found it unused in the bottom drawer of a tool chest he had after his passing. He left us in 79' so I'm assuming he bought it not much before that given the age of the packaging. I was 12 in May the year when he passed in April. I tell myself he was gonna give it to me that autumn before my first rifle deer hunt. Even if he wasn't gonna give it to me its a good story to tell my grandkids anyway when they get old enough.

"Dunlap" was a line of Craftsman knives that were less expensive than the top of the line "Sta-Sharp" knives. I think the Dunlaps were the same knives but with cheaper handles; i.e. also made by Camillus. Some of the Dunlap knives are marked "High Carbon/Steel" on the master tang and some are marked "Dunlap/USA".
Here are 2 Dunlap knives, a 3 3/8" EO Jack and a 3 5/8" Cattle knife.

Here are three Sta-Sharp 3 5/8" Cattle knives, two 4 blade and one 5 blade. All have been well used but their strength and character are just as present as ever. These are strong work knives.
Imagine walking into a Sears store in the late 1930's or early '40's and seeing a display of Sta-Sharp knives all new and shiny. What a treat it must have been.

Here are two 4 blade Stockman knives, 3 7/8" & 3 3/8". I really like this 4 blade Junior Stockman. It almost has sunk joints. Good looks and strength all in a 'small package'. Very hard pattern to find. I think it was not a big seller. It should have been. I think it is one of the best Sta-Sharps.

Even knife shopping from home was fun back then.

Well, I got that Barlow cleaned up. It has steel liners if that means anything. (WWII time maybe?)

He is my "Old Crafty" Barlow..... the counterpart of the above Sheepsfoot Barlow.
It has a 9548 number on it.

Yes, a 5 blade Cattle knife is very collectible and a bit rare. Powerhouse of a knife, thick liners, stout knife.

Yep, they are bone. My ole sorry pictures make it where you can't really tell. There is a coat of some sort of finish on top of the bone.
You can definitely tell when you hold it in your hand.
Now, the Old Crafty is delrin....

Yep, they are bone. My ole sorry pictures make it where you can't really tell. There is a coat of some sort of finish on top of the bone.
