I had a Keen Kutter knife that looked an awful lot like that one once. The stag on that one is so worn down, those blades should be worn a lot more on that shouldn’t they? Is that shield correct for this? Again, it looks like the KK knife I had.

I don't get very enthused over modern knives but I think the best part of the knife is the modern blade.

I'm not trying to ride a dead horse here but am able to add better pictures of the knife and have also been able to examine it. You should note that it was stated in the auction that one of the blades had been replaced with a modern blade. In the first picture that would be the blade in the back on the lower end. This should be a nail file type blade. In comparing this knife to the picture in Tom's book on older Case knives it has a lot of things going for it. The blades look right, the tang shapes are right, the 3 remaining original blades mesh in the frame just as you would expect. The shield looks right. The nail pulls are in the right places. The larger blade sits a bit proud but that is because it is on the same spring as the replacement blade. Tom says the knife in his book is 4 1/8" long this knife is 4 1/16". The knife in Tom's book is stamped W.R Case & Sons Bradford, PA and the ebay knife is Case & Sons Bradford, PA. I have no idea what stag of this era should look like, but this is old and seldom seen. In looking at this knife in comparison to what Tom shows in his book I'm 75% convinced this is legit and if so take note because you are looking at a very rare knife that won't pop up again for a while. Does anyone see anything else? I hope Tom doesn't mind that I used his picture. What do you think of the knife Tom?

Bob, I would love to examine the knife in person but Case did in fact have Congress knives of this period with this blade configuration and shield. I own the one that is pictured in my book but there is also one pictured in Jim Sargent ‘s volume 7 in the colored section. I have also handled one other years ago. The left hand pull, large Spey secondary blade and bar shield sets them apart.
