Chinese Old Timer?

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Chinese Old Timer?

Post by terryl308 »

I have this unused Old Timer 69, my question is, is it a imported Schrade, it doesn't have U.S.A. stamped on it just Schrade Old Timer on the master clip point blade, and 69OT on the opposite side. The bar code label is still on the blade and is called a "Old Timer Prem Trapp" It is a well made heavy knife. If it is a Chinese made knife it is a well made one. Thanks, ::tu:: Terry

If there’s no USA then it’s chinese (and not really a schrade in my opinion). Nothing to do with the quality of it, but a schrade is a schrade because of where it’s made.

Old schrades (you could say true schrades, due to them being made in the original Walden or Middletown factories) don’t have USA stamped but they do have Walden NY. That was back when US made was a given. An example:
