Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
I picked up a KK trio recently from joefm. A Cattle knife (possibly a K3878 1/4), a K8 cracked ice Pen and a KS319 Vaquero (Alvin Sellen's pattern name, not sure where it derives from?). I love the fact that each has the Keen Kutter logo shield. Blade etch on the black Vaquero. Currently had a couple Cattle knives, a pearl Pen and a goldstone (a Case term) Vaquero. Adding to the family.

Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
Thanks, Ryan! Up to 33 folders, a fixed blade and a hoof pick/haft. Barely a dent in all the patterns bearing a Keen Kutter logo or a Shapleigh Hardware tang stamp.

I often think about the Horseman's knives I let slip through my fingers at auction.

John —right? I hope the flea markets can get back in business soon and I hope people aren’t too scared to have yard sales and garage sales this summer…

Excellent dogleg, nice full blades.

I'd say that's a K2728.

Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
Thanks, danno, I see that now. Wish I could find an etched Vaquero like he has pictured, really nice looking pattern. I penciled in a correction on Page 15 too.danno50 wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 3:57 pm Sorry John, I missed a few posts. Nice trio of Shapleigh era Keen Kutters!I believe what you are calling a Vaquero is actually a Wharncliffe. There is an error on page 15 of Sellens. He had the Wharncliffe labeled as a Vaquero and the serpentine stockman beside it labelled as a Wharncliffe. On page 212 of Sellens there are a patterns (4425, 4428, 4429) which Simmons called Vaquero, which is one of the Spanish words for cowboy.
