Latest whittles

Post by TM »

I finally finished these chain links! The first 2 tries didn't pan out; broke the link on one attempt and started another, but the piece of wood was too small for me to carve the inside of the links apart.

Here's an elephant I started working on - not done yet. I think I'm going to start carving more animals.

The links are basswood and the elephant is balsa. Balsa is fun to work with; you can get faster results with it, but you have to be careful about shaving too much off too quickly! It's also not as sturdy as basswood.

Feel free to add anything ya'll have been working on to this post

::tu:: That Elephant came out great, especially for balsa wood, that stuff can be tricky to work with.

And I keep telling myself I need to carve more animals too! ::nod:: Plus, I want to try some relief carving...If only I didn't have to work :)

Happy carvin' :)
