1990 KCC knife and print

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

1990 KCC knife and print

Post by chorizotaco »

Fellow dogs

I obtained this print several years ago and have asked a couple of people if they know anything about when and where and why the Club offered these prints At the bottom right corner is an embossed stamp of the Ka-bar Collector Club. Was it something special that came with the 1990 large clasp club knife? In my old newsletters I don't see anything about a special offer when you purchased the knife. Hope someone can help answer this and if not, enjoy a little Ka-bar club history. Thanks.

Finding information on scrimshaw artist or works like this are so difficult. Thirty years have passed so it’s even harder now if no one was a member or remembers the details on this.
That is a great looking knife by the way.

Thanks

This one is drawn not scrimshaw. I have the name of the artist somewhere but couldn't find it.

Okay so as I was re-reading some of my KCC newsletters I found an answer to my own question....DOH!!! Apparently when this Grizzly was ordered Ka-bar would create a paper copy of the art work, add the KCC members number, and then stamp it with the KCC seal. Here's the page out of the newsletter. Thanks for all your help.
