William Dartt Limited ???
I couldn't resist snagging this little gem for $10 shipped, and I figured I didn't have much to lose. The only reference I can find to it is in Goins, William Dartt Limited c.1898 and another identical William Dartt c.1898, but in Germany. I am amazed that despite being so bent up, the primary blade still has good snap. The smaller blade of course snags on the incredibly bent liners. Before I take it apart and try to straighten everything out, I thought I would ask for opinions about the handle material. I assume it is smooth undyed bone, but the pile side maybe looks a bit like ivory. Nah, it couldn't be? I would really like to keep and just patch the original scales, particularly since I will never be able to get the shield inlay this perfect on new scales. Any information or opinions will be greatly welcomed.

I can't answer any of your questions, Herb, but I'll certainly be watchin' this thread to see what you do.

It's bone. You can clearly see the haversian canal spots on the mark side. Have at it. Fix her up to your satisfaction. At this point, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

If it were in a little better condition, I'd say do nothing to it. In it's current state, I also say give it a go!
