knife repair shops or repair hobbiest....
I have a older [30s early 40s] Pritzlaff Hardware knife ...2 blade equal ends jack with wood scales......one of the blade springs is broken [small blade]...I know it will not be economically feasible to have it fixed but would like to have the spring replaced anyhow as long as it doesn't break the bank....anybody know a place or person doing this kind of work....thanks Dave.....
BTW Im located in SE Wisconsin but would ship if needed....

You might get a better response if you post some clear, closeup pictures. Finding or making a replacement spring, disassembling the knife and putting it back together with the new spring is probably going to be costly.

A few of the guys have a forge and can make a spring, even a simply single can forge would work.
I don't have a forge, but Muskrat Man does I believe. You might contact him.
The other possibility is remove the broken spring and blade and make it a single blade knife. That is probably the most cost effective option.

I do many things of this nature. Unfortunately, good work is expensive.
You would have to pay a talented craftsman for at least an hour's work.

Re: knife repair shops or repair hobbiest....
Dave, I’m obviously not Bill, and I don’t repair knives, but I doubt any reputable knife mechanic would give an estimate sight unseen. I’ve had knives repaired and every time the repairman asked for pictures before even committing to do the work and then needed the knife in hand before giving an estimate. I doubt any want to give an estimate on a public forum, especially for a knife they haven’t seen (and a customer they’ve never dealt with). So I’d send a PM or email, with pictures of the knife showing what’s broken and a brief description of what you want done.

BTW, Bill Deshivs has done work for me and I recommend him highly. http://www.billdeshivs.com/bd/
I’m not speaking for Bill, just giving my experience and opinion. I’m hesitant even to get involved in this. Good luck - hope you can get it fixed.
