Old Keen Kutter Knives

Keen Kutter was first used as a knife brand by Simmons Hardware Company in 1870. The trademark was used on the highest quality tools and cutlery Simmons offered.

Has anyone ever seen a Keen Kutter tang stamp like the one on this knife?

This knife is currently on ebay. I am not providing the link as I am not calling the knife into question. Just wondering if anyone has seen a tang stamp like this?
I have two 1898 3/4s, both have slight differences and different tang stamps. The ebay knife more closely resembles the bottom one.

I also have Keen Kutter pen knife with a "MADE IN USA" stamp on the back of the pen blade.

Dan,I'm not crazy about the stamp or the length of the tang. The seller has had some questionable knives in the past

Roger, now that you mention it the length of the tang is strange.

Danno — I’m no expert but I have a lot of Keen Kutters (EC Simmons thru modern reproductions) and I’ve never seen “made in USA” below the tang stamp like that. Plus what everyone else mentioned— the tang length looks 🐠 fishy to my amateur eyes 👀..just my 2 cents..

Picked up this sweet little E.C. Simmons KeenKutter easy open jack from a member here.. I don't think it's ever been used, full blades, strong etches including the pattern number on the back of blade.

Thank you for the thoughts on the ebay knife I posted Roger, John and Ryan. I also did not like the look of the tang stamp. It is too new looking and black inside. None of my Keen Kutters are that dark in the letters of the stamp. However, the letter ends are all squared, not rounded, and the pattern stamp looks good?
Beautiful easy open, John! ::tu:: Sellens says that one was in the catalogs from 1905 through to 1920. I really like the old knives with etched pattern numbers.
Thanks for posting your knife, John, nice one! ::tu:: It is pretty much a match for the bottom one of my 1898 3/4s in blade shape and tang stamp, although the tang on it appears to be somewhat longer than normal? The tang stamp, with the ears at the top of the stamp and "MADE/IN/USA" in the bottom of the stamp, instead of the more normal
"ST LOUIS/MO", is somewhat rare. I have three Keen Kutters with that stamp and yours is the only other one I have seen.

Thank you all for the kind comments. Dan, appreciate you dating the knife, it's a little older than I thought.
