Case Tested 6250 Elephant Toe ?????

Forgive me if this one has already been discussed. I just noticed it on fleabay and am wondering if it is legit. I thought the modified clip primary blade was kind of odd, but then I saw a picture of one of these with a similar blade (6250LP W.R. Case & Son) in Tom McCandless's book. However, I am wondering about the match striker pull and the "TESTED" tang stamp. ::hmm::

Herb, this is a contract made knife for WR Case by Utica. The knife is in rough condition with the master being re-shaped and a chunk broken out of the pen blade. There were 3 makers of toenails for Case prior to them making their own.Phoenix Knife Co.,Napanoch and Utica.

Thanks Roger. Good information. That makes sense. I think the other knife I mentioned that is pictured in Tom McCandless's book was probably also a contract knife made by Utica.

Wow, that main blade is unlike any I have seen. It looks really odd, but thanks for the clarification.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!
