Re: ..no more NASCAR.....
Guess they will have to burn all the old episodes of Dukes of Hazard. Remember them running around in the General Lee? My entire life, the Confederate flag was kind of like flying your local football team's flag. Kind of a southern pride thing. It never was about racism...nor was Dukes of Hazard.

Re: ..no more NASCAR.....
This ain't gonna help their already dwindling ratings and fanbase.....
One of my biggest criticisms (and I've even written papers and discussion posts about it when I was getting my BS in Management and Leadership; which surprisingly were well received) is how companies today have a very weak backbone, and always cave to the least of pressure. And NASCAR is probably gonna get the full brunt of it in the form of lost ratings. I am sure the people they tried to please probably don't even watch it period, they just wanted to find something to throw a tantrum over.
You can't ban something just because one group finds it offensive; but allow stuff someone else might. It's either all or none. The hypocrisy of the left is beyond ignorant. The Communist Party has been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of millions of people (and COVID), and not only are clothing items (and I recall, for a recent video game, the Hammer and Sickle was a big part of its marketing and packaging art) perfectly fine to display and sell, but we have people in government who worship and follow their ideology. The idealogy of the CSA might not have been correct today, and they didn't kill people because they didn't agree with their ideology; yet the Confederate Flag is supposedly what is offensive to the left. All of the major online marketplaces ban the sale of anything bearing the Confederate Flag (even in the cases of sets of toy soldiers and the like), but allow the Hammer and Sickle. And these idiots are demanding the renaming of military bases and the removal of monuments that memorialize lives lost during the war. I had ancestors who DIED of disease in Union POW camps--but they like to act like that never happens and they never existed. White-washing of history HAS to stop.
I really stopped watching NASCAR ages ago. The engineering of WRC, IndyCar, and Formula One (and as of late FormulaE) got more of my interest; and the cars NASCAR races are NOT stock cars. You have virtually identical cars with different bodyshells; vs. cars that are entirely different, and have very advanced engineering and design using the most cutting edge technology and materials available. And in addition to the geekery behind that; I also really found rodeos and eventing quite enjoyable; back when we had Dish, who offered several equestrian channels. And all these channels (especially Discovery) airing specials featuring BLM's extremist manifesto as a gesture of "corporate social (irr)resonsibility" has really made me revisit cord-cutting.
And have you seen the prices of the old Ertl Dukes of Hazzard cars as of late? They are through the roof! I had a General Lee as a kid (early 2000s), and lost it.

The black power fist offends me but it's their right to do it. The Confederate flag is a symbol of the past but is still apart of some peoples heritage, display it, it's not that big a deal. Just my 2 cents. ftd"A pocketknife is a man's best friend!"

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't NASCAR born from moonshiners trying to see who had the fastest car and who was the best driver?
Isn't NASCAR a sport that pretty much a owes its beginning to the moonshiners in the South ?

Re: ..no more NASCAR.....
Yeah Dale, that was the beginnings of NASCAR. NASCAR began an urban emphasis several decades ago, trying to change the Redneck image into something modern Urban’s would flock to. They shutdown many historic southern racetracks (actually moved their races away to urban areas outside the south). I went to the fall race in Rockingham every year and to Charlotte too. When they took away the Rock’s races I quit going. Don’t even watch it on TV anymore. I feel someone could start up a Southern Stock Car Racing league, reopen the old tracks (i.e., give Darlington back some good races) and require the cars must be bought from a dealer and rebuilt into race cars - they would attract a big following again. NASCAR’s race cars aren’t even real cars. OH

Eventually the knights suit of armor gets so chinked from multiple beat-downs that a mortal blow isn’t that difficult. It looks like the France family, who has controlled NASCAR since its inception in 1948, has finally killed the knight, well done!

I don't agree with NASCAR's recent decision, but I will continue to watch. I love racing. NASCAR, IRL etc.
Having said That, I think OH's idea of a Southern Stock Car racing league is an excellent idea.
Having cars actually purchased from a dealer and going back to some of the old tracks would be awesome.

Re: ..no more NASCAR.....
I pretty much got over Nascar a few years ago when they started to change the rules every week, and I know several others that did. One guy that I knew at work went to all the races east of the Mississippi and some of the ones out west, took his vacation days around the schedule. All of a sudden he sold his motorhome and a quit going to the races I ask him why and he said well it got to the point that it was getting to be like professional wrestling, the winners were picked or at least had an advantage before the flag ever waved.

episodes of Dukes of Hazard, I read that they had I think thirteen (13) of the same cars. When they did like the big jump scenes if it didn't survive they just jumped into another and kept filming. As Roscoe P. Coltrane marveled how they can do it. ("cuff them and stuff them!). And the Daisy Duke sister!

HBO has now taken "Gone With The Wind" off its listing.
It's amazing how many are kowtowing down to these basement dwelling crybabies who seem to think their "feelings" have been offended, so the whole world should abide by their mindset. Well, not on my watch!

Now I just read this morning that NASCAR is “moving slowly” away from guns & ammo sponsorships. Guess they really do want to make “fundamental change” to their image (to paraphrase a former, liberal POTUS). I bet they don’t even own a Buck Knife at this point in time. OH

I don’t know why they would move away from ammo and gun sponsorship? In the new country of CHAZ people w/ guns are being hailed and praised. So guns are alright if left wing radicals own them now. I think NASCAR is risking offending these people w/ this policy.

Wondering what people think of NASCAR racing on a football field today? For all the millions they must have spent to haul in material and pave a track and then take it out again for a. 37.5 mile race? And because the race was so long they had to stop and have a concert midway. lol

I was recently reading about how Stellantis is going to be reintroducing the Hemi V8 engine in Ram trucks and getting back into racing in the NASCAR Craftsman truck series by running a Ram truck with Chevrolet based Ilmor engine. How lame is that?
