A knife bonanza(for me anyway)...........

After a long dry spell of knife acquisition I finally hit an estate sale that had a plentiful supply of edged tools on the block. In fact I could have easily spent several hundred dollars there(had my wallet cooperated)but was forced to limit my purchases.These were spread out over three days(Thursday,Friday,and today)and totaled just under a hundred and fifty dollars. I think I made out all right though.
The first day I found an ivory handled corn razor it it's original box(no maker's name;just stamped,"Warranted Quality")for $10. Next was a KA-BAR lockback that was missing the folding guard(which I am currently making) with jigged black composition handles for $15. Last was a jigged bone handle Schrade Cutlery Co. double end switchblade that has some closing issues with the secondary blade for $20.
Saw a bunch of KA-BAR Collector's Club knives that were way over my budget.For some reason they had placed one of them(a 1980 pearl handled two blade congress)in with a bunch of regular knives with a $25 price tag. I thought about getting it but decided to pass.
Having buyer's remorse at NOT buying it I went back the following day hoping it was still there and sure enough there it was!The second day of the sale the prices dropped by 20% so I got it for $20. I also spied one in the case with it that I had missed before:a Cattaraugus whittler with ebony handles in fine shape. Another $20 bill left my wallet for that one. The last one was another in the case that I had looked at but didn't want to pay the initial price of $60:a Russell Barlow in very nice shape. Today it was priced at $45 and my wallet got similarly lighter. Another good day.
Now it is Saturday and I'm wondering why I am headed back there again.Maybe there was something I missed. There was. Almost hidden in the case were a pair of Keen Kutter sleeveboard jacks;one of which was unsharpened and the other suffering from a couple of dings in the blade near the tang. The unsharpened one went in my bag for $9. Lastly was a German multi-blade with faux stag handles;one having a deer profile on it.Not an expensive knife but one I didn't have(I do now).Another $9 disappeared from my grasp. The remaining KA-BAR knives were not discounted so I didn't bother with them.

Wow, very desirable knives at a steal of a price. I really like the whittler, and the Schrade. But would have trouble walking past any of them

Wish you could have been there Gene as I know your penchant for KA-BAR knives.Wish I had more money to spend I would have bought all of them.
