Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.
This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

One of the Ugliest schrades I have seen.
Rare... Waited a long time to find one. Wonder if any sold
I've seen pictures but I never realized how big that sucker is. Weird one for sure. Nothing about it looks 'Schrade'. BTW a normal paring knife blade is 3 or 4 inches long. I know everything's bigger in Texas, but Jeez!
Maybe a little irony. Schrade made knives for everybody. Somebody else made this for Schrade, in my opinion. Just sawblade stock butcher, hardware store bulk knives.
The knife is razor sharp the full length of the blade. Almost a cimitar. Butcher knife not as curved. Hard to hold as the handle is almost square. Records look that it was made inhouse. No stamping or marks on the blade other than US.
Not much is known about this knife.

Thanks I don't have any solid info on the knife but it's not a production piece, at least not the one I have. You're not seeing it in the pic but the knife is nowhere near perfect. Especially the plastic handles. They're wavy and not uniform. If I was to guess I would say maybe a rejected sample made for Parker Frost?

That looks like the old USGI butcher's knife that Camillus made and supplied during WWII with camp cook kits. Not really ugly, in my opinion. Reminds me a lot of the Old Hickory butcher in my knife block. But a little basic, in my opinion.
