Supporting Member GAW

I have always felt that a forum's true value are it's members. They make the forum go, and provide information and inspiration. AAPK is no different, and it's great to have a gathering of knowledgeable knife collectors and enthusiasts. Beyond that are the members that support their forum financially. As we know, it does take money to operate the forums, whether it be hardware or software support. So thank you to our supporting members! And just as a general note, I think we all appreciate that Bryan offers us a place like this to gather!

So, I'd like to host a small give-away for our supporting members. It's very simple, if you have one of those nifty "supporting member" banners under your name, you are already eligible. However, I still need you to declare that you want to be in on this GAW. Rather than just say "I'm in", which is certainly acceptable, it would be nice if you could share something with us. Maybe a picture, or a story, or anything interesting. Could be knife related, family related, etc. I'm not trying to make this an exercise, just make it fun. There are no wrong answers. (Bryan and mods, please also feel free to participate if you wish!)

Let's get to the prize: Here's what the winner will get: I was doing one of these GEC 23 liner-lock in stag, but the first one I modded didn't come out exactly like the customer wanted. There's nothing wrong with it, just the opposite, I think it turned out pretty darn nice, just not what he had in mind. So rather than it just sit around gathering dust, I thought I'd pass it on to someone who could appreciate it. Here's some pics...

The stag has a bit of flare at the butt end, but overall I would not call the stag fat like you see on some knives. The pattern is good size, so the knife is a handful.

Now the rules: Pretty straight forward, you need to be legally able to own this knife, and able for me to ship it to where you are. I'm fine with international winners, but don't wish to get the knife rejected at customs. Also, this knife is a gift, so please, no flippers.

Glenn,I like your idea.I have been a member for over 10 years and check in at least once a day.I have met many members over the years at shows and just returned from a 2500 mile knife trip where I met up with 3 members along the way,along with some others.
Several members I consider personal friends.and below is a photo at one's home.
I have learned much about knives on AAPK,and hope I have imparted some knowledge to others.
So throw my name in the hat!

AAPK is the #1 knife related website in the world IMHO. The leadership doesn’t get any better
and the members are truly supportive of one another. I look forward to logging in several times

It has been a real pleasure to be part of the AAPK forum. I signed up and stayed in the shadows for a good while before I started participating.
The forum has been like another family to me that was a close as the key board. This family has helped Miss Joy and I through several bumps in the road. Those bumps included a quadruple bypass for my wife. The prayers and kind wishes from cyber friends are always helpful.
The Upper Room is a very special part of the forum, in fact it was one of the things that got my attention when comparing knife forums 10 years ago.
I've only had the pleasure of meeting 3 of our members face to face and I treasure those times. There are groups within the the group, not officially, but there are several Marines that have a special bond, there are experts on certain knife brands that are always willing to answer a question or straighten me out when I'm in over my head and there are always a group that is willing to pray for the needs expressed on the pages of the forum.
I appreciate the actions of the moderators that have been instrumental in keeping the peace in a very diverse group.
It goes with out saying, the supporting member banner is well worth the contribution!
Glenn thank you for your generosity and willingness to share a great knife in a give away!

I joined AAPK for the whittling thread, then got interested in knives more than whittling and seems now I still like both whittling and knives but enjoy more the friendships I have made here. Thanks Glenn for your generosity and artistic work. I would love to be included.

Here are a couple of pictures from an event my wife and I attended a couple of years ago. We have been supporting Global Servants since 1989. Dr Mark Rutland started the House of Grace in Thailand after he went over there to train and speak to pastors in Thailand. The first night he was there, someone knocked on his door at 3 AM. It was a man with a very small girl. He offered to let him have sex with her for a certain amount of money. It so infuriated Dr. Rutland that he threatened the man who left immediately. In the morning Dr Rutland told this to the pastor who picked him up for the conference and his reaction was, yes it happens and yes it’s terrible, but what can we do? Dr Rutland said that someone should do something about it. To which the pastor replied “you’re someone”. And so House of Grace was born. I am proud to say that we have been a part of this ministry since 1989. House of Grace goes into villages and rescues girls who are in danger of being sold into sexual slavery.
These pictures are some of the girls that House of Grace has rescued, housed, fed, schooled and some sent off to Universities. Now some of these women are having an impact on their country.
House of Grace is also working in Ghana West Africa doing the same work there.
Since I retired, I am now on the board of Global Servants. My wife and I have committed to donating a percentage of our knife sales to Global Servants.
I enjoy my knife hobby and buying, selling and trading has been a lot of fun for me. I learn something new every day on this forum. I am trying my best to help others that are new to collecting to learn something too. I think AAPK has a culture and I hope that I am a part of that culture and am passing it along to others.

As some of you know, I was blessed to have a store here on AAPK for 13 1/2 years
Gave me the chance dealing with exceptional knife folk's to sell a lifetime collection.
And without dealing with so much crap that other selling forums throw at ya.
Members here were so, so, supportive when my wife was ill and died 2 1/2 years ago.
We were in Arizona when she died, 2200 miles away from any friend or family...
you all will never ever know how much your comments help me get thru all that
by myself out here !!! You do not spend 50 years with your best friend who happened to be your wife
and just shrug it off,, I still struggle today with her loss and AAPK members were a big lift thru that time..
Bryan is one of a kind ladies & gents..we are blessed to be members of his brain child !!!

Ive been a knife guy since my Grandpa gave me my first pocket knife when I was five. But it wasn't until I discovered AAPK that I really became a collector.
Going from about 100 users to a collection of over 1000.
I love this place.

Thanks Glenn, I joined July 24 2006. It has been fun and a education. I have made some friends that I get to see at a few shows. I am thankful for all of members that has helped me in my quest to learn about old knives.

I am not a collector, probably never will be, but I have accumulated quite the edc rotation since joining. I found AAPK while looking for a new stockman online. Like some I lurked for a while but it is definitely the family atmosphere and friendships that led me to support. I probably spend more time off topic than anywhere. I am amazed at the shared interests in addition to pocket knives. I think of this group as close friends even though I know very few last names. Thanks Glenn!

That is a beautiful knife, Glen, thank you for the opportunity. I would like to be in, however, if you do not wish to ship to Canada, understood. I would be happy to pay the shipping costs, in the very unlikely event that I win.
I have been on AAPK a little over ten years. I had quite a few knives, but didn't really become a collector until I joined. I have learned a lot over the years, especially how much I don't know. The highlights of my collecting have been the three times I attended the OKCA show in Eugene and meeting some of the fellow AAPKers. The show pictures are from 2016 and the knife pictures are the knives I picked up in 2016 and 2019.

Glenn--Please count me in. I stumbled upon AAPK a couple of years ago while trying to find information on a German dagger that I was selling in an estate auction. What I discovered was a wealth of knowledge, and obvioussly a willingness to share that knowledge with the rest of us. I have never personally met any one from the forum, but, Lord willing, am hoping that after retirement from the Postal Service (still a couple of years), I will be able to attend some shows where our paths will cross. I have learned a lot from all of you and look forward to what else I might learn in the future.

One of my favorite places to hang out at AAPK is in the knife Creation, ModIfication, and Restoration subforum. Repairing old knives is just a fun, relaxing hobby for me.
