We have all been spoiled by the excellent AAPK knife mechanics and pictures of their work they have posted. I noticed this knife is posted as a "custom" knife but if you look at it you can see it is very inferior work to what we are accustomed to seeing on AAPK. The handles are glued on and do not have pins. If it had a shield and I assume it did then no effort was made to inlay the old shield. Also the stag has been worked down to the point where it has lost much of its natural aesthetic appeal. Is that called the pith that is showing? I'm not putting down anyone or their work I'm just saying we are used to seeing much more professional work on here. Also apparently the Ebay knife was made in a series of 10. That might indicate the person doing the work has some following? Comments ?

That's why, rarely, can you get thin, uniform scales, with stag. All of it's character does not reside in one thin slice. Whoever did it, tried to thin it out, like bone. I think it looks a bit sad.

Re: Comments
It has a Case blade so i would not call it a "custom" knife. "Customized Case knife" is more accurate.

Re: Comments
Looking at the seller's other items offered for sale caused me to think he's probably a gunsmith and not a knife mechanic. He had several other knives listed among a bunch of gun parts and pieces, in fact there was another #50 with the regular wooden handles, pins and shield. In my rootin' around on ebay, I'm never surprised at what people have for sale and some of the descriptions are quite amusing.

I agree with the above comments.
Not very well done but that is a product of the material used to TRY to cover such a wide knife.

I agree that it looks odd, but considering how thick the stag probably was he did a decent job in evening it out.

Stag should be worked from the rear, so that the "bark" surface is as undisturbed as possible.
