You don't need permission. Just select a topic and forum, and post away.

I know how to reply, as I'm doing now to a topic. How do you start a new post (topic for discussion) and how do you know where to put it (under what topic). Thanks JWW

Ok, I'll give it a shot!

Step 1) Go to the top of this page & hit "Discuss"

Step 2) Look down through all the Topics or "Main groups of topics" / This list puts all the topics into groups. Like for example Case knives, General knife discussion, General Off topic discussion, Queen Cutlery ect. ect.

Step 3) Pick the "Group" of topics that sounds closest to what your looking for. Let's just say for example it's "Keen Kutter Knives" so you hit that. Now your in the "Group" of topics about Keen Kutter.

Step 4) Look down through the list of topics again if there is already a topic you can use or if not, at the bottum of the topics there is a button for starting a new topic or thread. I used Keen Kutter as an example because it's not 7-Trillion topics. Go through these steps one by one useing my "KK" example so you can get a feel for things.

Also, one more thing, once you get into a group of topics, there should be a "Search" box where you can search for topics. Let's say you go into a group of topics that does have 7-Trillion topics in it. Like for example "General Knife Discussion". Now it gets almost impossible to look through all the names of all the threads so this is when you use the search box. Use "Key" words like "Lanyard" or "EDC" or whatever.

So JWW, I hope you could follow my explanation. Like I said, just go through this "step by step" untill you get if figured out. Maybe two or three times. I know how you feel. I was a bit lost at the beginning also.

It's as easy as 1-2-3. There is a tutorial on starting a new thread in the "Tips & Tricks" forum (plus lots of other helpful hints). It can be reached in the Home < Knife Forum LINK in the gray bar at the top of every page on the forum.

As far as which forum to put it in, read them all and choose the one that best fits your post.

Something I’d recommend to all new members is to go to the header at the top of the page and click on “Forum”. Which will take you here https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/knife_forum/. Then just spend a little time scrolling down through the list of the various different main topics here.

While you’re at it, from that same header at the top of the page click on every one of those topics. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at all the content available here on AAPK!.

Yes, good advise Ken.

My advise to new members would be "explore". You can't break the forum so get out and look around, even at things you may think you're not interested in. Click on everything that's clickable and see what it does. You might be amazed at how quickly you become familiar with the forum.
