Great line up, fakes or not, they still sure are pretty.
I've seen many Kutmaster stamps that look like they are cold stamped. This knife looks jazzed up though.
Same thought I had.
I think some of these 'knife re-assemblers' (fake makers) are compulsive. If they have a parts lying around that can be assembled into a knife, they go ahead and build the knife, not thinking of how much money it might bring in, just the satisfaction of turning parts into a functioning knife.
Just slap a COCA-COLA or similar shield on them and they become a double collectible to the unknowing. Does anyone know where these new factroy counterfeits that Bighomer shows came from? They have been around for years and plenty of them.
I do remember these knives being sold at shows in Texas at $40 each your choice. I never bought any because I they weren't legitimate but at $40 they sold very well. The vendor had a table full of them. I always thought there was some factory connection given the number and quality of them.bighomer wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 12:57 pm They supposedly came out of Ky. The kutmaster has the billiken shoe badge and bone handles. I think btrwtr and Roland hit the nail on the head about it. You notice that for the most part they all of look alike. The story I got was this person made these knives and went to shows and sold them for 40 bucks apiece , making no assertion as to legitimacy. I got them from a flea mkt. vender buddy for 20 bucks apiece along with that story.![]()
The only one that's been sharpen is the Belknap hdw.
and it as good a pocket knife as I own, these are all nice pocket knives with beautiful bone handles imho. Ymmv.ps they weren't made recently they got years on them.
I agree about the Kutmaster blade and I have always thought that these fake knives were connected to Kutmaster in some way. The overall look, quality and quantity of them tells me there is some factory connection.celluloidheros wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 12:41 am I too saw mine on ebay, I have a few more, I buy up as many as possible so others don't buy them as legit. I would have to take a closer look but I think the kutmaster blade may be real. Not sure about the rest of the knife. I think its good to show people examples of good and bad knives. Its good for knife collecting. Knowledge is power. Don Crandall
By buying up as many fakes as possible, aren't you financing their operation, and thus assuring that there will always be more made?celluloidheros wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 12:41 am I too saw mine on ebay, I have a few more, I buy up as many as possible so others don't buy them as legit.
