And then there was this
Even though they have 2 bids I just suspect that everything else isn't OK.

I think it’s been removed.

I don't know diddly about Case knives but to my eye, it appears to have been re-handled. (I've never seen those handles on a Case knife) If so that would explain the upside down shield.
But what's up with this pattern stamp? 055 is the pattern number for a Cigar Jack but it looks like the 5 on the end was added post factory.

Taken apart and rehandled and then assembled wrong. The front handle pin for the backspring is in the wrong place , the back handle center pin for the backspring should go all the way through the knife , but it doesn't.

That appears to be a Delrin shield. Else it’s been buffed to the extent that the oval ring is gone.

Yep that entire mark side haft is upside down, that's why the shield is in the wrong location.knifegnome wrote: ↑Wed Oct 07, 2020 12:42 pm Taken apart and rehandled and then assembled wrong. The front handle pin for the backspring is in the wrong place , the back handle center pin for the backspring should go all the way through the knife , but it doesn't.

As I am just learning the basics of knife repair--my current status is "incompetent noob". But, how in the world do you mess up THAT bad?!! A two-blade slipjoint isn't exactly something hard to get in backwards, unlike a multitool in which there are the handles, several tools, washers, and perhaps a lock mechanism to contend with. I recently attempted to repair a Leatherman; and I ended up goofing up royally. Yet, I have disassembled and reassembled multiple Kershaw Onion knives correctly.

Someone was asleep at the wheel here...
Clearly a fail of a knife and a waste of what could have been some nice stag!
