October 2020 Knife Magazine

Post by Mumbleypeg »

The new issue of Knife Magazine is another winner. Great article on “A Primer for Dating Buck Knives” by Larry Oden, another great article “Anglers Knives by Hardy Bros.” from Art Green (leave it to Art to write an interesting article about knives I never heard of) , and a thought-provoking editorial from Doug Ritter of the Knife Rights organization. Plus all the usual stuff. ::tu::

Thanks for the Knife Magazine online catalog issue reminder Ken.
Knife Magazine can no longer mail the actual catalog to California due to the https://www.p65warnings.ca.gov/ cancer warning ⚠.

You’re welcome Dan. I’m not sure what you’re referencing when you say “catalog” though. I was posting regarding the magazine’s October issue which arrived in my mailbox a few days ago. ::tu:: Are you saying you can’t get print magazines in California due to Prop 65? ::woot::

(BTW Knife Magazine does have an on-line subscription). https://www.knifemagazine.com/

Dan,

You should tell them in CA you weren't going to eat it!
But I bet Nancy couldn't keep her teeth off of it. 🤭

Yes, I am referring to "Knife Magazine" Ken.
I have been a paid subscriber since 1992 and have ALL the past magazines.

Current membership is $29.95 per year. If you join, you can also subscribe to their "Premium Digital Magazine" (online only) for an additional $9.97 per year which will give you access to all the past issues in the "Vault." You can also view "GOINS’ ENCYCLOPEDIA OF CUTLERY MARKINGS" and so much more. (Money well spent)
Don"t forget to enter the Knife Magazine CRKT Knife Giveaway contest on page #28 of the current issue.

I agree John.
Anna has many animals in her little home zoo that would love the tasty color pages.

Thanks Dan. When your prior post said "catalog" I thought perhaps you were describing something else other than the magazine.

So you do still get the print version in California?

Ken;
I was thinking "Magazine," however, my fingers wrote "Catalog." I believe I was having a "Senior Moment"? (I get those on occasion)
At times, my fingers and feet go faster than my brain.
No, my last physical "Knife Magazine" I received here in California was the April, 2019 issue.
Also, "Smoky Mountain Knife Works" stopped mailing their monthly sales magazines to California in early 2019.

I remember calling SMKW last year and asking them why I was no longer receiving their physical monthly magazines. The young man I spoke to at Smoky advised me that due to the Ca. P65 Cancer and Reproductive warnings they could no longer send the magazines to California.
It has nothing to do with the paper or ink, but that they would have to print "⚠ WARNING:Cancer and Reproductive Harm-www.P65.ca.gov" on EVERY ITEM that was listed for sale within their magazine.
I know that the Ca. Government is just trying to protect us. But......seems a little extreme. ::shrug::
SMKW sends me an e-mail when their new monthly magazine is viewable online. Unfortunately, "Knife Magazine" does not notify me, so instead of searching every day online at Knife Magazine's website, I depend on the members here at AAPK to post information, such as your above OP. ::handshake::
